Armenian Accordionist’s Stolen Performance of Azerbaijani Songs Removed from YouTube

Baku: Armenian accordionist Gagik Stepanyan has recently faced the removal of his YouTube video, wherein he performed a medley of Azerbaijani songs, presenting them as Armenian compositions. The performance included Azerbaijani songs such as “B?s n? deyim” (What am I supposed to say?), “Ay b?ri bax” (Come, look this way), “Niy? yox deyirs?n” (Why do you say no?), and “Gman yeri var” (There is reason to doubt).

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Stepanyan failed to mention the titles of the songs or acknowledge the original authors, leading to actions by the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The agency, with technical support from the “Digital and Audiovisual Broadcasting Industry” Public Union (RAYS), which manages property rights on digital networks, successfully had the video removed from YouTube.
