Baku: Environmental protection spending in Azerbaijan is set to increase more than twofold, as announced by Sadig Gurbanov, the chairman of the parliamentary Committee for Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, during discussions on the draft state budget for the upcoming year. This announcement was made at a joint meeting involving multiple parliamentary committees, including those for Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, Labour and Social Policy, Healthcare, and Foreign and Interparliamentary Relations.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Sadig Gurbanov highlighted that Azerbaijan’s efforts in climate change prevention are receiving significant international recognition. The hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan in 2024 serves as a testament to this recognition.
