Azerbaijan Increases Fines for Military Registration Evasion

Baku: Azerbaijan has announced an increase in fines for individuals evading initial military registration and failing to appear for conscription without a valid reason. This decision was discussed during the latest meeting of the Defence, Security and Counter-Corruption Committee of Milli Majlis, the Azerbaijani Parliament.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed amendment to the Code of Administrative Offenses stipulates that conscripts and military officers who fail to comply with conscription orders, medical examinations, or military unit assignments without a valid excuse will face increased penalties. The fines will range from three hundred to five hundred manats. Alternatively, offenders may be subjected to one hundred and sixty to two hundred and forty hours of community service, depending on the circumstances and the identity of the offender.

The amendment also details that individuals can avoid administrative liability by reporting to the designated authority before a court decision is made. For those evading initial military registration, the fine will rise from 30 manats to 100 manats for failing to appear at the relevant executive authority within the specified period noted in their summons.
