Lankaran: A large amount of drugs was prevented from being smuggled into Azerbaijan, the Press Center of the State Border Service informed APA. As part of operational-military measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and combat smuggling, the ‘Lankaran’ border detachment of the State Border Service Border Troops Command successfully intercepted a significant drug shipment on January 20 at 20:01.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the intercepted contraband included 80 kilograms 685 grams of drugs. This comprised 77 kg 645 grams of marijuana, 3 kg 35 grams of heroin, and 5 grams of opium. Additionally, authorities seized 1,000 units of methadone M-40 and 245 pills of various compositions. These items were being trafficked from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Operational-investigative measures concerning the incident are ongoing. The State Border Service continues its efforts to combat illegal trafficking and ensure the security of Azerbaijan’s borders.
