Azerbaijan to Implement New Fines for NGOs Over Reporting Lapses.

Baku: New fines are set to be imposed on non-governmental organizations in Azerbaijan, including branches and representative offices of foreign NGOs, for failing to provide the supervisory authority with timely, complete, or accurate information on grants and donations. This initiative is reflected in the proposed addition of Article 598.8-1 to the Code of Administrative Offenses.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft law outlines that officials could face fines ranging from one thousand to one thousand five hundred manats. Legal entities could incur fines between two thousand five hundred and three thousand manats if they fail to submit a comprehensive annual financial report on grants and donations, or if there are inaccuracies or delays in submission. This requirement is in line with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Combating the Legalization of Property Obtained by Crime and the Financing of Terrorism”.
