Azerbaijan to Rename Public Spaces for ‘Year of Constitution and Sovereignty’

Baku: New names will be assigned to avenues, streets, squares, relevant territorial units, and metro stations in major cities in connection with the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty.” This initiative is part of the “Action Plan on the Declaration of 2025 as the ‘Year of Constitution and Sovereignty’ in the Republic of Azerbaijan,” as approved by an Order of President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Order mandates that new names should be assigned throughout the year to unnamed peaks, as well as avenues, streets, squares, relevant territorial units, and metro stations in Baku and other major cities to commemorate the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty.”

For this purpose, several government bodies have been recommended to take action, including the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the Geodesy and Cartography Agency. Local executive authorities, the special representatives of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the authorized representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and the Milli Majlis will also participate in this initiative.
