Azerbaijan Unveils Comprehensive Roadmap for Energy Efficiency Policy.


Baku: A presentation of Azerbaijan’s Energy Efficiency Policy: A Roadmap was unveiled during an event organized in cooperation with the International Energy Agency (IEA) as part of COP29, the Ministry of Energy informed APA-Economics. The event marked a significant step in Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing energy efficiency and sustainable practices.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov emphasized Azerbaijan’s dedication to international climate change initiatives. He highlighted the nation’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and accelerating the transition to a green economy. Zeynalov noted that energy efficiency is a central component of Azerbaijan’s energy transition policy and strategic documents, supported by a robust legal and regulatory framework.

The Roadmap, developed within the European Union’s EU4Energy program, outlines the current status of energy efficiency in Azerbaijan. It reveals a 50% energy efficiency potential in the country’s m
ulti-apartment residential buildings. If realized, this potential could result in significant savings of up to 4.2 billion cubic meters of gas annually, a reduction of up to 10 million tons of carbon emissions, and the creation of approximately 125,000 new jobs.

The event featured panel discussions focusing on future priorities for energy efficiency, the challenges and solutions ahead, and the study of international experiences, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
