Azerbaijani MP Announces Completion of ‘Great Return and Reintegration’ Law Draft

Baku: The law draft on ‘Great Return and Reintegration’ aimed at the liberated territories has been completed, with positive feedback from the relevant parties, according to Zahid Oruj, chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis. This announcement was made during a meeting of the committee held today.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Oruj expressed regret over the delays in passing this law, indicating it had been postponed from session to session. The law draft is seen as a crucial step in addressing the challenges faced by Azerbaijan in reintegrating and resettling territories that have been liberated.

The committee chairman also highlighted the inclusion of discussions on the consequences of Armenia’s illegal activities in the occupied territories as part of the committee’s work plan. This includes the assessment of compensation issues from an international legal perspective. Oruj noted that although compensation discussions were initially included in the work plan two years ago, they had been temporarily set aside. However, Azerbaijan has now prioritized the compensation plan.
