Baku: The prayer date for Eid al-Adha has been announced. According to the fatwa (religious decree) issued by the Council of Qazis under the Caucasian Muslims Office, based on the letter (No. 31/71, dated May 14, 2025) from the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, Eid al-Adha will coincide with the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah-June 6 on the Gregorian calendar-in accordance with the sighting of the crescent moon over Azerbaijan’s horizon.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the fatwa outlines that in accordance with Sharia, the sacrifice ritual (Qurban) can begin on June 6 and continue for three days. On June 6, Eid prayers will be performed in mosques. In Azerbaijan, June 6-7 have been declared public holidays for Eid al-Adha by the state.
