Deputy Minister Announces Continued High-Temperature Trends and Foggy Conditions in Azerbaijan

Baku: The Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Umayra Taghiyeva, has indicated that a relatively high-temperature regime is expected to persist in the country during the first days of February. As observed earlier, foggy weather conditions are prevalent across the nation. The daytime high temperatures at the surface and the cooling at night contribute to the formation of inversion fog.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Taghiyeva reported that the maximum temperature recorded in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula recently reached 16 degrees Celsius, which is 6.7 degrees higher than the climate norm. This above-normal temperature trend is also evident in other regions. Calm and windless weather further facilitates the formation of fog, which is currently affecting areas such as Sumgayit, Bina, Guba, Yevlakh, Zardab, Imishli, Sabirabad, Jafarkhan, Bilasuvar, Shemkir, and Lankaran, limiting visibility to 200 meters.

Taghiyeva noted that these foggy conditions are anticipated to persist intermittently until the afternoon of February 3. In December and January, the average monthly temperature exceeded the norm by 1.2 degrees. The relatively high-temperature regime is expected to continue in early February. However, cold periods are still possible during the month, with public notifications issued 3-4 days in advance.

As the second half of the first ten days of February approaches, forecasts suggest a change in weather patterns, with a decrease in temperatures, occasional strengthening of the northwest wind, and the occurrence of precipitation.
