Gas Transportation Increases by 3% Through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline.


Baku: Gas transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline has seen a 3% increase in the first ten months of the current year, with 32,832.3 million cubic meters of gas transported through Azerbaijan’s main pipelines. This marks a slight decrease of 0.4% compared to the same period last year, as reported by Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline was responsible for 57.4% of the total gas transportation. This pipeline plays a crucial role in exporting gas produced in the “Shahdeniz” gas-condensate field. During the reporting period, 18,832 million cubic meters of gas were transported through this pipeline, reflecting a 3.4% increase.

It is noteworthy that last year, a total of 39,806.9 million cubic meters of gas were transported through Azerbaijan’s main pipelines, marking a 1.4% increase compared to the previous year. Of this, 54.8% was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzuru
m South Caucasus pipeline, with 21,800.1 million cubic meters transferred, indicating a 4.8% rise from 2022 figures.
