Baku: An event on the theme “Airport Climate Action. Heydar Aliyev International Airport leads the way in carbon reduction in the region” was held in Baku within the framework of COP29, APA reports. Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) President Samir Rzayev, speaking at the event, highlighted AZAL’s commitment to automating compliance processes with digital tools to enhance resource efficiency as part of sustainable development. He emphasized the airline’s dedication to not just operational efficiency but also to fostering a cleaner and greener future.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event also included a presentation by Olivier Yankovec, Director General of ACI (Airports Council International Europe), titled “Airport Carbon Accreditation – A Story of Climate Action.” The presentation addressed the strategies and accomplishments of international airports in reducing carbon emissions. turing insights from Jane Hupe, Special Representative of the International Civil Aviation Organization to the UNFCCC, Justin Erbacci, Director General of ACI World, and Haldan Dodd, Executive Director of the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG). They explored necessary frameworks and innovative solutions for minimizing aviation’s carbon emissions in the future.
