Kyrgyzstan registers about 10 COVID-19 cases per week

The Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance told what strains of COVID-19 are circulating in Kyrgyzstan. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 206 thousand COVID-19 cases have been registered in the country, of which 427 cases in 2023. Currently, about 10 COVID-19 cases is being recorded per week, and the epidemiological situation is considered stable. According to WHO, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, about 13 strains (variants) of COVID-19 have been reported, which have been named by letters of the Greek alphabet, of which the strains of concern were B. B.1.351, which was first reported in May 2020. Alpha B.1.1.7 - September 2020, Delta - B.1.617.2 October 2020, Gamma - November 2020, Omicron - November 2021.
