Leyla Aliyeva Highlights Urgent Need for Protecting Rare Species at COP29-PHOTO.


Baku: Leyla Aliyeva, vice president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of IDEA Public Union, participated in panel discussions focused on the protection of rare species, held during COP29. These discussions, organized by IDEA and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), centered on “60 years of conservation: IUCN’s Red List.”

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Aliyeva, speaking at the event’s opening, welcomed attendees and highlighted the critical role of protecting endangered species in maintaining global ecosystems and biodiversity. She stressed that preventing the destruction of living organisms is a global challenge that necessitates international solidarity and cooperation.

The event also provided participants with insights into the rich biodiversity of the South Caucasus, highlighting several animal species unique to the region but now extinct.
