Baku: A meeting was conducted between a NATO delegation and Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry as part of a broader engagement marking the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan joining NATO’s Partnership for Peace Programme. The delegation, led by NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Operations, Ms. Burcu San, visited Azerbaijan to participate in an academic conference commemorating this milestone, as confirmed by the Ministry of Defense to APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the NATO delegation engaged in discussions with Colonel Elchin Abdullayev, Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department. The primary focus of the meeting was the ongoing implementation of commitments under the Individually Tailored Partnership Programme (ITPP), which serves as the key legal framework for cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan. Additionally, the participation of Azerbaijani servicemen in international security missions was reviewed.
The meeting also covered topics related to the training of different tr
oop types declared by the Azerbaijan Army to the NATO Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) Joint Force. Discussions included the contributions of Azerbaijani military personnel serving in various NATO headquarters and structures under the Partnership Staff Post Concept.
Mr. Jafar Huseynzada, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to NATO, also attended the meeting. It was highlighted that Azerbaijan remains a reliable partner of NATO, and there was a comprehensive exchange of views regarding the future prospects of their cooperation.
